Croydon Circle enjoy ‘Carmen’ at Hever Castle

Forty three brothers, wives and ladies visited Hever Castle on a warm Friday evening in August to enjoy a performance of ‘Carmen’ as part of the Hever Festival Theatre.

Performed by the Opera Brava Operatic Group, ‘Carmen’  featured an international cast and a sensational Carmen in Lilly Papaioannou.

The performance was superb, the singing wonderful and the beautiful weather, lovely setting and under covered seating combined to make a most enjoyable evening.

Some of the group partook of a pre-theatre dinner in Guthrie Pavilion Restaurant while others brought picnics and enjoyed the lovely grounds by the side of the lake.

We do like to be beside the seaside

On Sunday August 7th members and their wives from Croydon Circle went to Littlehampton for what has now become a regular day out.

Starting with coffee at the Windmill we moved on with a walk to the lifeboat station and the Look & Sea Visitor Centre with the 360° viewing tower then downstairs for lunch in the Harbour Lights Café.

A leisurely stroll back down to the seafront was interrupted by ice creams on the sea wall.

The third annual Croydon Catenian kite festival rounded off the afternoon – lots of fun for all ages followed by tea and cakes before heading for home.
