Our Membership Team headed by John Fennell the Circle Membership Officer, undertook a membership drive at the largest Parish in Croydon – St Mary’s in West Croydon, over the weekend of February 15th/16th, aided by Deacon Vincent Morrison, a member of Croydon Circle and a number of other brothers including our two newest members, Bro’s Michael Abiodun & Yves Kpami.
All seven weekend masses were covered, yielding the names of many prospective new members.

Eight Croydon Brothers joined Purley Circle and some sixty visitors from Province 19 for their annual Burns Night Supper on 23rd January at Woodcote Park Golf Club.
All the traditional features were present including haggis, drams, pipe music, recitations and songs; not forgetting the equally traditional Tam o’ Shanters which have the strangely levelling effect of making everyone, regardless of office or seniority, look completely ridiculous!

Brother Richard Pyatt chose Weymouth for his President’s Weekend with accommodation at the Rembrandt Best Western Hotel September 6th – 8th.
Brothers and Circle ladies gathered Friday evening for drinks and dinner together.
Activities the following day included a boat trip along the scenic Jurassic coast, trips to Isle of Portland, the lighthouse at Portland Bill, Chesil Beach and the D.Day museum.
Dinner in the hotel Saturday evening was followed on Sunday morning with the brothers and their wives joining the local congregation for mass.

Once more the Brothers of Croydon Circle and their wives have given their generous support to the President’s Charity and through various fund raising events, collected the astonishing amount of £1,200 in aid of the Kent Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre “KMSTC”.
The KMSTC is devoted to improving the lives of MS sufferers with a wide range of remedial therapies, including specialist Oxygen (Hypobaric) – the only facility in the South East able do so.
It is a registered charity established in 1984 and which moved to its present purpose-built premises in January 2015. It relies entirely upon charitable donations – which also funded construction of the current building.
In accepting our cheque Moira Mitchell asked that the warm thanks and gratitude of all at KMSTC be passed on to Croydon Catenians and should any of them wish to visit the Centre (by appointment) they would be welcomed.
