Croydon Circle Centenary

Croydon Circle was founded on 2nd March 1921 after a group of South London Brothers who lived in the Croydon area had petitioned and been granted permission to form a new Circle.  The founding President was Douglas Aikenhead Stroud, a Doctor of Law, Assistant Solicitor at the Post Office and author of several legal books.  As a result of his instigation, Croydon Circle was inaugurated, and with the support of the Parish Priest of St. Mary’s in West Croydon, meetings were regularly held in the church’s crypt.

As a result of restrictions imposed because of the Covid pandemic we weren’t able to have a celebration on 2ndMarch, exactly 100 years from the date our Circle was founded and was belatedly held it Farleigh Golf Club on 8thSeptember, attended by Brothers, their wives and our Clergy.

As can be seen by the accompanying photographs, the dining room was beautifully set up by the staff at the Club, the food was excellent and everyone had a great time.
